Who is Marc Sijm
Marc, the son of a carpenter and born on the wide-open plains of West Friesland, grew up surrounded by wood shavings, down-to-earth values, and an unstoppable curiosity about how things work. His career began in construction engineering, where straight lines and solid foundations are everything, but it didn’t take long before he discovered that his true passion lay in building digital worlds instead.
The move into information technology was a natural one. There, Marc turned out to be a gifted programmer with a keen eye for detail and a knack for navigating complexity. Over the years, he designed large-scale systems for international companies and led teams that were sometimes just as quirky as the code they wrote. Yet, despite the excitement of technology, a deeper question kept whispering in the background: what really drives people? And why do we sometimes behave so irrationally, even when we “know better”?
That curiosity eventually led Marc down a very different path. He immersed himself in alternative medicine, intuitive development, and coaching. Along the way, he discovered that logic and intuition aren’t opposites at all, they’re partners in crime. This blend of technical precision and human depth sparked a lifelong fascination with the big questions of existence and the mysterious interplay between consciousness, behavior, and growth.
In 2021, Marc wrote IVDAVRA, a book that weaves together many of these themes. It brings to life subjects such as reincarnation, the principle of oneness, life as a learning journey, the evolution of consciousness, the origins of humankind, quantum physics, and epigenetics. The story is told through the eyes of three consciousness figures, Stu, Erv, and Maestro, who offer a unique view of our planet, humanity, nature, the God Principle, and the curious ways in which we behave.
Set within the vast field of consciousness, IVDAVRA explores what a soul truly is (a unique unit of awareness), how the earthly “avatar” operates, and the powerful role of the subconscious mind. The book reveals how deeply each of us shapes our own perception of reality, our behavior, and even our belief systems. It’s the kind of insight that could transform education, if only it were taught in schools.
Marc’s ongoing search for answers to questions like “Who am I?”, “Why am I here?”, and “Where do I come from?” runs like a thread through his life, his choices, and his work. Sometimes deeply philosophical, sometimes playfully curious, because, as Marc likes to say, self-discovery doesn’t always have to be so serious. He blends analytical thinking with intuitive insight to help others find their own path: with both feet firmly on the ground.
